A Word About Video And Audio Blogs

A Word About Video And Audio Blogs

by Alfred Lancer

Blogs are revolutionizing the way businesses interact with their customers. To elevate blogs to the next level, you may want to embed video in your business blog. Audio Video is becoming increasingly in demand online. If you heard of YouTube, you know the impact of video online. Why not take advantage of this revolution? You can make your blog more entertaining when you include video. You may provide short clips about using your products, or you could make short presentations about your services.

Don't confuse video blogs with online commercials, because the two are not at all the same. Video blogs are not supposed to be shameless plugs or infomercials. When you offer video in your blog you are providing valuable information in a different form. Instead of entertainment, think value. That, of course, doesn't mean that your video should be boring. On the contrary, the more exciting you make it the more buzz it will generate. Webinars are quite common tools that would benefit your blog.

We won't go into the details of how to get your videos on your blog, but it is easier than you think. Don't worry if you don't have video equipment worth millions of dollars. Most digital video recorders are more sophisticated to day than much of the video equipment professionals have used in the past.

One of the most important aspect of video to remember is that it is using much more bandwidth than text. Be sure you check with your hosting company to make sure there is enough bandwidth for you to embed video in your blog. As video is becoming ever more popular, video hosting providers have made it very easy for the end user to add video content to their blogs.

Most popular video sharing sites such as YouTube, Google Video, etc will auto-generate code that you can cut and paste into your blog post. The most widely implemented blog backend providers such as TypePad and WordPress, have both a WYSIWYG and an HTML tab for writing and editing posts. This functionality is very similar to what many people are used to seeing in popular web-page building programs like Adobe's Dreamweaver. Most blogging software allows you to paste the video embeded code into the HTML tab of your post.

A Short History Of School Desks

A Short History Of School Desks

by Matt Marshall

Throughout my schooling, desks types progressed from wood and metal antique types in a one room rural schoolhouse where I started in Grade One to those constructed of modern steel tubing and plastic in my high school years.

I recall early school desks made of ornate iron frames that supported roomy wooden tops. These desktops bore the carvings and graffiti of the schoolchildren who had sat in them. The writing surface had a convenient groove for pencils and to the right, a hole for an inkwell.

Under the desktop, a roomy storage shelf held books, notebooks and various other school necessities. Each desk unit was built with a table section. Attached in front of it was a wooden seat and back rest. These units, when ordered in rows, allowed a student to sit in the bench part of one unit and work at the table of the one in front of it.

This elaborately designed desk type was made in the US around 1880. Designed by Anna Breadin, it was for its time, a new and exciting concept for school furniture. Previously, most schools used very rustic wood desks or even tables with either chairs or attached benches that several students would sit at. There was no place to hold pencils, slates or books.

Newer designs started to incorporate metal tubing for legs and supports, and often sported a slanted top that could be raised to access the storage space beneath it. Many of these were individual units, so were much more versatile in how they could be arranged within the classroom. Some even had a swivel seat so it was easier to sit in or arise from the desk.

In the newer desks, storage shelves for student possessions varied from beneath the seat to beneath the desk top. Earlier under seat storage was a wooden drawer that was heavy to pull out and awkward to use. Later these drawers were replaced with more convenient open wire shelves or baskets.

The style of the writing surfaces also varied. The early spacious wooden surfaces gave way to less roomy ones. Some were designed with side mounting and a small writing area. Others had just enough room for a notebook and perhaps a textbook.

Today, school desks can be found in a great many styles and sizes. From ones designed for small children to those that fit a tall adult, almost size or style can be purchased. Online specialty stores carry a huge selection at reasonable prices.

Much of today's classroom furniture integrates modern materials such as high tech laminates. Open front storage is popular, and many are self contained lightweight units. Comfortable molded plastic seats have replaced wooden bench seats, and wire book racks beneath the seats are usually part of the unit. The table tops range in size from full sized to tablet sized.

For those with an urge for nostalgia, antique school desks can often be found in museums or antique shops. Most of these antique classroom pieces can be bought for under $100, and highly sought after by collectors. Even online auction sites have a variety for sale. Old fashioned school furniture can be an interesting display piece in your home.

How To Choose The Best Discount Office Furniture Bargains For Your Home Office

How To Choose The Best Discount Office Furniture Bargains For Your Home Office

by Josh Massoud

Many people new to a home business have a strict budget for their start up costs. How do you stretch those dollars to have a functioning and productive office space without spending most of it on expensive and fancy office furniture? Once you have your basics like a good computer, then why not look in discount furniture outlets for your furnishings.

Look for discounted furnishings that are both sturdy and will function well in the space you have. Perhaps pieces that require some assembly will work for you, usually found at a lower cost in special stores. These have the advantage of being easily disassembled to move at a later date. Choose the most comfortable furniture you can find, that also offers excellent support for your back.

You don't necessarily need to look for discounted office furniture that is new. You may want to check out used furniture outlets as well. Become aware of sales in local outlets, where you can often pick up discontinued items for a good price. Even slightly damaged pieces that are still functional and usable should be considered. Look also for sales at special times of the year, such as in August of September when school starts. General office supplies, computer desks and office chairs are often discounted then.

Online retailers can be another source for you to explore. You will be able to access a very wide choice, from many different retail outlets. Take some time to shop around on the internet and compare prices and products. This can be a great time saver, since you will be shopping from home instead of traveling around to local stores. While you are online, look at sites like eBay and Craigslist for bargains. You may find just what you need advertised there.

Used office furniture is also retailed online by dealers who refurbish used office furnishings. You can often choose among a wide selection of bookcases, desks and matching cabinets. They may even refurbish or refinish some things to your specifications. These outlets often have a selection of high caliber solid wood pieces, as well as quality used and discounted chairs, desks, cabinets and customer furnishings. Some may need refinishing, while others are quite functional as is.

You could also shop for second hand or used office furniture locally. Check the for sale columns in your local newspaper. Check out garage sales on the weekends. Visit the second hand shops. You may not find your dream desk, but if you can locate one that is clean, functional and will last for a few years and is priced right, then it will get you started.

Some new home businesses are set up using the dining room. Don't be one of those who makes that mistake. A poor choice of office furniture will be uncomfortable and dysfunctional. Instead, make an investment you can afford in furniture that offers functionality and good physical support.

Buying discounted office furniture is a great way to keep your initial home office expenses down. After all, why pay more money when you don't need to? Just focus on setting up a space to work in that is functional, comfortable and efficiently organized. By limiting your start-up costs, you will have more resources to invest in advertising and expanding your business.

Are You Selling Your Old Car? Car Grooming Can Make Sales Happen!

Are You Selling Your Old Car? Car Grooming Can Make Sales Happen!

by Michal Hopper

Perhaps you've had that antique gas guzzler of yours for many years and now you are seriously considering upgrading to a newer, sleeker sports car. Mayhap your family is growing and you need a larger vehicle to meet the needs of each member, e.g., soccer practice, ballet classes, and clarinet recitals. Whatever the reason you have for selling your old car, you must bear in mind that you can quickly sell your vehicle if you are industrious with your car grooming.

Nevertheless, the grooming that we are referring to here is not the one that you yourself would do on some day off from work or weekends. The most significant element to help preserve the good condition of any automobile is to acquire regular professional car grooming services.

A high level of difference exists between the washing and grooming that you accomplish for your car and the washing and grooming that are offered by the experts. For one thing, not unless you own a professional car detailing center yourself, there is a higher chance that you would have a limited supply of car grooming materials. Professional car groomers have a whole stock of cleaning materials, and most of them are specifically manufactured to keep your car's exterior gleaming just like the first day it rolled out of the showroom.

Many professional car grooming centers make use of organic cleaning products; these not only preserve your car exterior's condition, these also have no negative effect on the environment. Not only will you be keeping the surface shine of your old automobile to make it more eye catching to prospective buyers but you will also be doing the planet a good turn if you send in your automobile to be serviced in a car wash and groom center that makes use of ecologically friendly cleaning materials.

You will be the one who will eventually reap the advantages of sending your antique car for regular pro car grooming services. Even if potential clients are searching for second-hand automobiles, they are surely not suckers for gas guzzling clunkers that are coated with mud and heavy with rust. Professional car wash centers can help restore your car's luster so that customers will not have second thoughts in acquiring your car.

The Two Types Of Car Wash Methods

The Two Types Of Car Wash Methods

by Michal Mercer

Why should you keep your car's exterior tidy? Well, for the apparent notion that it is one of the leading methods of keeping your car in mint condition for a longer period of time. But apart from keeping your car's exterior in good condition, there are other reasons why you need to maintain a regular schedule for car wash. Mud, grit, dust, and salt can accumulate on your car and cause rust on the finish, which will slowly but steadily degrade the polish of your vehicle. These can cause scratches to form on the surface of your vehicle, and this can cause your vehicle to be in easier danger for corrosion and rust.

You have a couple of options, then, of car wash methods. You can either wash off the dirt and grime by yourself or you can send your car to a car grooming center and let the experts handle the matter of cleaning your car.

The two choices both have their own advantages. If done as a family activity, DIY car washing can help encourage closeness between members of the family. Afternoons and weekends are great times for cleaning the car, and family members can also use the time for catching up and bonding.

However, car owners have to keep in mind to utilize products that are specifically designed to protect their vehicles. Cleaning their cars is not a great time for experimenting with dishwashing soaps and other household cleaners to check if these will work at keeping their cars shiny. Car owners would be risking damage to their car polish if they experiment with various cleaning materials in washing their vehicles. It is highly recommended that automobile owners should only use cleaning materials specially created for cleaning cars.

Meantime, pro car wash centers provide the benefit of using cleaning materials entirely and specifically created for cleaning the exterior of cars. Therefore, the risk of stripping off the automobile's polish is completely eradicated. As an extra reward, many car grooming centers these days utilize cleaning products that are completely friendly and safe for the environment. Another advantage of having your car serviced in a professional grooming center is that, with the technology available in places like this, the time it takes for car detailers to clean your vehicle would just be a wee bit of what you will spend if you do it by yourself.

After the car owner has made the decision as to the certain type of car wash method to use for his or her vehicle, it would then be just a matter of adhering to a set schedule. Keeping a regular washing schedule can ensure the retention of the automobile's sparkle and shine.

Chiefs Beat Struggling Redskins

Chiefs Beat Struggling Redskins

by Ross Everett

The offensively struggling Kansas City Chiefs have finally found a way to win-play a team with a more stagnant offense than their own. The Chiefs gave Todd Haley his first win as a NFL head coach on Sunday with a---6 win over the Washington Redskins. Kansas City won despite not scoring a touchdown, compiling their-- points via 4 Ryan Succop field goals and a game ending safety. Kansas City is now 1-5 on the NFL season, while the Redskins slumped to 2-4.

To successfully bet on NFL football you occasionally have to put aside W/L records and look at the underlying statistics. Those who did that found reason to take Kansas City as +6' road underdogs and were rewarded with the outright victory. Kansas City is now 2-4 against the NFL pointspread and has covered two straight while Washington is a dismal 1-5 versus the money. The 20 combined points went well UNDER the posted total of 36'. The Redskins have gone UNDER in five of their six games this season, while Kansas City has curiously posted a NFL totals mark of 3-2-1 to the OVER despite not scoring more than 24 points in a game all season.

After the contest, Haley sounded more relieved than excited about finally putting a "W" on the board:

"We made it pretty difficult, right down to the end. We've pushed through a very difficult period. We needed to get some positive reinforcement with a win."

Kansas City QB Matt Cassel also won for the first time since coming over from New England in the off season. His postgame comments were more upbeat:

"There's been a lot of change, but this has definitely been special. We rose to the occasion. We made some big plays. We put ourselves in a position to score points."

Embattled Redskins' coach Jim Zorn was stripped of his offensive play calling duties by team management after the contest. In one of his last decisions in that role, he pulled starter Jason Campbell at halftime and went with Todd Collins. He explained his move as follows:

"I felt the need to create a spark on our football team offensively and went with Todd. I think the guys responded well. We kept our spark, at times, and then we refizzled."

The Redskins have managed to win only two of their first six games despite being the only team in NFL history to play their first six games of the season against winless opponents. They'll get another chance to silence their doubters next Monday night as they host the Philadelphia Eagles. They'll have a bye the next week and return to action on November 8th against the Atlanta Falcons at the Georgia Dome. Kansas City will try to string together back to back wins as they host the San Diego Chargers on Sunday.

Saints Use Backup Bell To Blitz Texans In NFL Preseason Game

Saints Use Backup Bell To Blitz Texans In NFL Preseason Game

by Ross Everett

Backup Mike Bell made the most of his opportunity, starting in place of Reggie Bush and helping the New Orleans Saints romp to a 38-14 road victory over the Houston Texans. New Orleans improved to 2-0 on the NFL preseason, while Houston evened their record at 1-1.

Bell is a former Denver Broncos starter who has produced only 45 yards rushing in the past two seasons. He doubled that performance, and has the inside track to lock up the third running back roster spot. After the game, he talked about his big afternoon:

"I just wanted to show the team that I could come here and be a consistent running back. This kind of game was great because it reminds me that I can still play running back. Just to get the carries, and to make the most of this opportunity, that was a real confidence builder."

Saints coach John Payton commended the effort, but said that it wasn't a surprise:

"He really has done a really good job. I was encouraged again to see him playing so well."

Texans starting QB Matt Schaub moved the ball fairly well in limited playing time, but couldnt put points on the board. Houston head coach Gary Kubiak put the loss into perspective:

"It's a humbling game. You can walk out of the stadium one week and feel good about yourself, and then walk out the next week and wonder what the heck is going on. We got pushed around. We have to play better than that up front in order to be successful."

Linebacker DeMeco Ryan agreed:

"We take too much pride in what we do to go out and perform the way we did today. That's not who we are."

For the Saints, Drew Brees split time at QB with Mark Brunell.. Brees was 9 of 14 for 87 yards and a touchdown, while Brunell was 5 of 6 for 96 yards. Brees had missed three days of practice last week to attend his mother's funeral. P.J. Hill also got some reps at running back for the Saints, carrying the ball 8 times for 26 yards. Clearly the Saints have a deep and versatile offense, but need to execute more soundly than they did last year. Talent isn't the problem for the Saints; mistakes, however, are.

New Orleans will continue their NFL preseason run next Saturday against the Raiders at Oakland. Houston will host the Minnesota Vikings next Monday night. The Saints will get the NFL regular season underway on Sunday, September 13th as they host the Detroit Lions. Houston will start their schedule at home on the same day, hosting the New York Jets.

Organize Your Life With Shelves

Organize Your Life With Shelves

by Dennis Atkins

Shelves have been around for many years. However, they never go out of style. There are a great number of reasons to consider shelving in your home. Here are just a few to consider.

Do you have enough space in your home? If so, you are very lucky. Most people enjoy the extra space that shelving affords. Perhaps your garage seems disorganized and cluttered. Simple shelving may help out. Look around the garage. You may find the material, lying around. If not, go to your local lumberyard and purchase some inexpensive wood and brackets. Maybe you do not feel like making your own. You may still have shelving.

Stand alone shelving units are an inexpensive way to add space to your home. It is not difficult to remove them from the box and install them. This may help to clean up that messy garage.

Is it time to organize things in your garage? The right shelving units will make your organizing easy. You can put up simple shelving in several layers. Some can be very high. Use them for seasonal items and ones seldom used.

Is your bedroom crowded and unorganized? Shelving can make a big difference. For bedrooms, use a nice grade of wood. In garages, plain wood is fine. In your bedroom, use wood that you can stain and finish. Pick wood with nice grain patterns. You can use dark or light wood.

Wood works very well for bedroom shelving. You can find the right wood to match almost anything. You can use pine in many applications. It can be stained to match many color schemes. Do you like richer colors? Consider something like walnut. Make sure you shelving is not in the way. You may have to place it higher than most shelving. You might be able to go around most of the room, with it.

Shelving has its place in living rooms, also. Do you have very little space? You can make built in shelving. It involves a little work, but it can save a lot of space. This will work best for interior walls. Exterior walls may not have much available space.

Are you considering built in shelving. Check your walls. Some walls may have a lot space between them. It depends on the house. Be very careful with support studs. You can make wide shelving by hiding the studs. Place paneling or other wood around them. Of course, it will be much easier to install stand alone shelving units.

Your built in shelving project can be complicated. You might need to tear some walls. Learn as much as you can about the subject. Explore online resources. Check with your local library. You might call a professional for an estimate. This will give you a good idea of what to do.

Final thoughts

People have been making shelves for many years. They are still as popular and functional as ever. They will work well in any room of the house. You can build your own or buy stand alone kits. If you have limited space, consider built in shelving. However, this project takes a certain degree of skill and experience. It may be best to have it professionally done.

The Strange Saga Of Satoshi Ishii And Dana White

The Strange Saga Of Satoshi Ishii And Dana White

by Ross Everett

It may be a bit of a stretch to call Satoshi Ishii the Michael Phelps of Japan, but not by much. His victory in the heavyweight judo competition at the 2008 Olympics in Beijing was easily the defining moment of the games for his countrymen and was considered by most media outlets the #1 highlight of the year in all of sports. Though Japan does well at the Olympics for a country of its size and has won gold medals in a number of sports, its important to keep in mind that until the late'70s judo was the country's most popular sport.

Ishii himself is also a marketing dream. Hes especially big by Japanese standards with 240 pounds packed on his bulky 511 frame. Not surprisingly, hes tough as nails and a terror on the mat but away from the gym he comes off like an awkwardly cheerful overgrown boy. He definitely seems younger than his 22 years, but gives off the vibe of a nice neighbor boy who youd gladly pay to mow your lawn. Unlike his telegenic American gold medalist counterpart Phelps, who acts as if he spent as much time working on media relations as his backstroke heading up to the Olympic games, Ishii's demeanor is of an athlete who literally spent the bulk of his life in a gym only to emerge and find himself a national hero.

With the ability to offer him the most money and exposure, it seemed almost a fait accompli that Ishii would sign with DREAM and K-1 parent group FEG. Obviously its a good idea to keep your options open in negotiations, so he also reportedly talked to Sengoku parent World Victory Road and Antonio Inokis Inoki Genome Federation pro wrestling group. As expected, however, FEG reportedly presented Ishii with the most lucrative offer: 500 million yen (roughly $5.5 million US) to fight on DREAM and K-1 cards, with incentive bonuses based on his drawing power and performance. He would very likely become the highest paid mixed martial artist in the world before hed even stepped into the ring for the first time.

Ishii then shocked the Japanese fight sport world by categorically rejecting FEGs offer, saying that it was his lifelong dream to fight in the UFC. While this rationale might sound plausible to a US based fan, its akin to a top college baseball player from a SEC school turning down a big offer from the Atlanta Braves saying that its his lifelong dream to play for the Yomiuri Giants in Japan Central League. It frequently comes a shock to US MMA fans just how low the UFC ranks in the Japan's fight sport pantheon. In MMA, their profile is lower than DREAM and Sengoku, but even smaller groups like Shooto and DEEP.

Ishii then travelled to Las Vegas for UFC 92, with the Japanese media in tow covering his every move. There were countless photo opportunities with Dana White, who spoke of Ishii in glowing terms, along with top UFC stars. Upon his return to Japan, he was repeatedly photographed wearing UFC t-shirts while speaking enthusiastically about Dana White, Lorenzo Fertitta and everyone else involved with the promotion. He appeared at the Sengoku card in January addressing the audience from the ring and wearing his ubiquitous UFC shirt; his message was that he was going to fight in America for awhile but would eventually return to Japan.

At age 22, Ishiis got plenty of time to develop as a fighter. His biggest downside risk from signing with Zuffa is financial since hed be lucky to get a fraction of what FEG is willing to pay him. The competitive logic of learning his craft slowly notwithstanding, theres a huge risk in automatically assuming that he can fight for the UFC for a few years and then cash a big check when he returns to Japan as the potential of injury and changing market conditions could seriously impact his market value. On the other hand, it could be a risk hes willing to take given that hes got his celebrity both with the mainstream public and in the judo community to fall back on.

Theres another very realistic scenario that it was all a negotiating ploy by Ishii. The UFC was likely willing to play along, figuring that their investment of a few plane tickets and hotel suites would be worth the resulting PR surge in Japan. Ishii and the UFC develop a cordial relationship which could be to the benefit of both parties down the road and both sides realized that a long term commitment wasn't the right move at this point.

With the recent revelation that Ishii has broken off UFC negotiations to entertain offers from other parties thats starting to look like the plausible explanation for the once hot and heavy courtship between Ishii and Zuffa.

As a postscript to the Ishiis relationship with the UFC, it apparently opened the doors for his move to the US where hell be training with the American Top Team in Florida. That alone is a positive for his future development as a fighter, as hell be training with a whos who of professional fighting.

Lesnar Becomes UFC Champion With Win Over Mir

Lesnar Becomes UFC Champion With Win Over Mir

by Ross Everett

UFC 100 was a historic night for the sport of mixed martial arts, and Brock Lesnar used the occasion to avenge his previous loss to Frank Mir with a lopsided TKO victory. With the victory, Lesnar unified the promotion's heavyweight championship. The Mir/Lesnar tilt was the main event on an epic card which culminated an insane week in Las Vegas.

UFC 100 drew unprecedented attention from not only the MMA media but the mainstream sports media as well. While outlets like ESPN have long treated MMA with disdain they were forced by the interest surrounding the event to give it prime coverage.

While the big metric of the events success will be its PPV buy rate"which will almost certainly shatter existing UFC records"the attendance numbers and other tangible measures that are already known underscore the significance of the event. Fridays weigh in was a standing room only affair with over 2,000 fans turned away. A Fan Expo held in conjunction with UFC 100 counted over 30,000 visitors on Friday and an equal or greater number on Saturday. Even veteran fight media experienced in covering big boxing and MMA events worldwide have reported that the energy and general vibe around this event is like nothing theyve seen.

And the main event of the week was Saturdays UFC 100 fight card where Lesnar established not only his dominance of the promotions heavyweight division but his status as the biggest heel in MMA. To his credit, he had a perfect gameplan for Mir that allowed him to use his strength and power to maul his opponent on the ground while minimizing his exposure to submissions.

Mir, on the other hand, made a tactical mistake by letting Lesnar put him on his back and pound away. He clearly underestimated Lesnar's ability to defend his submissions and by the end of the first round had already suffered a nasty beating.

Lesnar diminished his dominating performance with his postfight antics"he taunted Mir after the stoppage, prompting the crowd to boo him mercilessly. He responded to this with a double handed middle finger salute before a short and arrogant postfight interview that would have been much more at home in the WWE than in this setting. Mir was the consummate professional in defeat, giving credit to his opponent and generally displaying all of the class that Lesnar lacked.

Browns Top Bills In Bumbling Offensive Display

Browns Top Bills In Bumbling Offensive Display

by Ross Everett

In a matchup between two of the worst offenses in the NFL, someone had to win. Despite producing only 9 first downs and'3 yards of total offense, the Cleveland Browns got a late game field goal from Billy Cundiff to defeat the Buffalo Bills 6-3 and win their first game of the season. The Bills had the more productive afternoon statistically, with- first downs and 288 yards of offense but were undone by three costly turnovers. Both teams are now 1-4 on the 2009 NFL season.

To successfully bet on the NFL, one needs to find opportunities to play underdogs"this is particularly true in games where neither team is expected to put many points on the board. Such was the case here, as Cleveland easily covered the pointspread as +6 road underdogs. Both teams are now 2-3 against the number on the season. The Browns have now won and covered the last three head to head matchups between the teams.

It was a game without many highlights. The Browns got on the board first with a 24 yard Cundiff field goal in the second quarter, and took that 3-0 lead into the locker room at halftime. Buffalo would tie the score in third on a Rian Lindell 36 yard field goal. That would set the stage for Cundiff to nail the game winner from' yards out with: 23 left to play. Despite todays victory, Cleveland is averaging a woeful 11 points per game this season. Buffalo's PPG numbers are slightly better thanks to decent scoring output in their first two games of the season--theyre averaging just over 15 points per contest. In the Bills last three games, however, theyre averaging a meager 6.6 points per game.

The real loser in Sundays contest may have been Buffalo head coach Dick Jauron. Many were surprised that he was retained after the Bills third straight 7-9 season last year and things have gone from bad to worse so far in the 2009 NFL season. Buffalo has lost to winless teams in back to back weeks, part of a three game losing streak. Overall, the Bills have wound up losers in 12 of their last 15 games. Not that Cleveland has done much better--the win today ended a 10 game losing streak, one short of the all time franchise record.

Cleveland will have a tough road assignment next Sunday, heading to Pittsburgh to face the World Champion Steelers. Theyll return home for a game against the Green Bay Packers on October 25th before playing the Chicago Bears in The Windy City the following week. Buffalo will play the next two on the road, heading to the Meadowlands next Sunday for a game against the New York Jets followed by a trip to Charlotte, NC to take on the Carolina Panthers. Theyll return home on November 1st to face the Houston Texans.

Giving Your Man The Practical Gift Of Car Polishing Service On Your Anniversary

Giving Your Man The Practical Gift Of Car Polishing Service On Your Anniversary

by Homer Affleck

Your anniversary is fast approaching again, and while your love is still as solid as ever, your creativity is going down. About all you could think of you have already given him in the many past Christmases, birthdays, and anniversaries. You still want your anniversary present to be special, though. You may not afford buying him the ultimate present (a brand new car!), but you can always give him something just as special.

Since you detest doing chores that much, let's skip the step of washing your man's auto by yourself. How about having others do it for you? And while they're at it, request more than just wash, polish it.

A very great anniversary idea for your man is to have professionals polish his auto for a year. Ask if they can set a year's worth of car polishing service or if they have a gift certificate that your man can use for a long period of time. With special packages, you will be saving a lot while giving your man something huge for your anniversary.

Don't hesitate to ask car care shops for special packages. There's a great chance that they already have it. Pre-paid services like car polishing service for a year are cheaper than you imagine. Try taking care of your man's other baby rather than giving him yet another fancy watch.

Just for more result, try adding car polishing products to your already generous gift. I say generous because car polishing gift certificates can last for months. A ready supply of car maintenance products would be helpful just in case he doesn't have the time to take his auto to the shop for a professional service. And of course, Do-It-Yourself products are always handy. Men feel better if they have them around.

Men desire practical gifts. And since car polishing is already part of his normal agenda, make it simple for him by getting the expenses for this one. No need for the dapper suits he don't get to try on or the extravagant dine outs. Your man would appreciate a lot more of this practical gift. Your man would also know that you care a lot about him that you see to his needs.

There are a few fundamental questions that you will need to have in mind when thinking about what provider to use, like:

What is the overall size of your website? Will there be a bunch of sub-domains developed? By considering these aspects, you will know the amount of web space you are going to require.

The best advice anyone can give relating to choosing your webhost for the first time, is, always shop around. Look at all of the choices you have available to you. Given the sheer number of choices out there, you might be tempted to just pick one at random or run with the first one that makes a good deal. Miami Beats Carolina To Remain Undefeated In NFL Preseason Play

Miami Beats Carolina To Remain Undefeated In NFL Preseason Play

by Ross Everett

The Miami Dolphins unveiled their version of the wildcat single wing offense for the first time in the NFL preseason and it worked like a charm. Starting QB Chad Pennington went 8 of 11 for 105 yards and a touchdown pass as the Dolphins first team offense played well in a 27-17 victory over the Carolina Panthers. The Dolphins improved to 2-0 in the NFL preseason while the Panthers dropped to 0-2.

Dolphins coach Tony Sparano said that there weren't any big secrets with his teams unique offensive set:

"There are really no secrets there, but it's good homework for us -- a chance to see what people have been studying during their offseason, and how they want to defend this.

Pennington was also pleased with the effectiveness of the offense:

"The wildcat went well. Anything we can do to get an edge, I'm all for it."

Ronnie Brown caught Penningtons TD pass and joined in the chorus with his positive assessment:

"We made some strides. We're going in the right direction."

Carolina coach John Fox sounded nonplussed, a surprising tone with a 0-2 team:

"Our first unit looked a little sharper. We're not there yet, but I thought it was an improvement."

Defensive end Julius Peppers sounded a similar tone:

"We've got to work on everything. That's what the preseason is for."

After a rough opening week, Panthers starting QB Jake Delhomme was also upbeat in his postgame comments to the media:

"We did better things tonight. It's a process, but we're doing all right."

Miami will head to the northwest coast of Florida for their next preseason contest, taking on the Tampa Bay Buccaneers next Thursday night. Carolina will host the Baltimore Ravens in Charlotte, North Carolina on Saturday.

Football Flashback: Favre Shines As Vikings Rip Cowboys

Football Flashback: Favre Shines As Vikings Rip Cowboys

by Ross Everett

When legendary quarterback Brett Favre announced his return to the NFL from what has become a seemingly annual flirtation with retirement, many second guessed the Minnesota Vikings' decision to sign "The Gunslinger". On Sunday, Favre and the Vikings answered those critics in the best way possible-with a lopsided 34-3 beatdown of the Dallas Cowboys. Favre threw 4 touchdown passes in the victory and the Vikings' defense sacked Dallas QB Tony Romo six times in the blowout.

NFL football betting fans also cashed tickets on the Vikings as -3 point home favorites. This was the shortest pointspread of the divisional playoff weekend and many thought that Dallas' momentum would carry them to victory. The 37 combined points went UNDER the posted total of 45. Minnesota had gone UNDER in four of six games to conclude the regular season.

After the contest, Favre boasted that a playoff run was a large part of his motivation to return to NFL action:

""This is what I came back for. Probably the most fatigued I got today was celebrating. I feel like I'm playing the same way. I have the same enthusiasm. As long as I'm out there, the enthusiasm and the passion that you see is real. And I know the guys feed off of that. Fans enjoy that, because it is real and genuine. Today was like this season: It's been wonderful."

Former South Carolina Gamecock Sidney Rice caught three of Favre's touchdown passes:

"Same ol' Brett. He's doing thing he's done since he first came in the league: moving around, getting the ball out, breaking tackles and even running down the field and throwing blocks. That just shows you how big of a heart he has."

Head coach Brad Childress mixed up a bunch of metaphors as he took a swipe at the prognosticators who picked Dallas to win:

"The Tasmanian devils were coming from Dallas that were about to bombard the state of Minnesota and run through us like Sherman through the South. All of us felt it quite palpably."

Cowboys' QB didn't have much to say in defeat:

"Any time you come in with the expectations and goals we set and don't accomplish them, No. 1, it's frustrating. Right now, it's just hard to think the season is over."

Cowboys' head coach Wade Phillips had a similar take:

"It's like the elevator falling from the top. It's tough when it's over. If you don't win it all, you have not reached your goal."

The Vikings will now head to New Orleans for Sunday's NFC Championship game against the Saints. Minnesota is a +3' point road underdog with the total set at 52'. The winner will advance to the Superbowl to take on the winner of the New York Jets/Indianapolis Colts contest.

NFL Flashback: Baltimore Shocks New England To Advance

NFL Flashback: Baltimore Shocks New England To Advance

by Ross Everett

The New England Patriots looked nothing like a team that had gone undefeated at home all season, let alone one of the dominant teams of the past few years. The Baltimore Ravens took advantage of a weak New England rushing defense and some untimely mistakes by QB Tom Brady to lead 14-0 just five minutes. They would end the first quarter up 24-0 and would never be seriously threatened as they coasted to a 33-14 victory in Sunday's NFL Wildcard game. Baltimore used 234 yards on the ground and three rushing touchdowns to force the Patriots to play from behind, and then let their defense do the rest.

NFL football betting enthusiasts who took Baltimore as +3' road underdogs were mentally counting their winnings before the end of the first quarter. The Patriots had dominated the head to head matchups with a 5-0 mark (4-1 ATS) and were undefeated at 8-0 (5-3 ATS) on their home field heading into this matchup. The 47 combined points scored went OVER the posted total of 43.

The Ravens took advantage of three first quarter turnovers by Tom Brady to build their insurmountable lead. Ricky Rice ran for an 83 yard touchdown on the Ravens' first place from scrimmage, but afterward refused to proclaim the New England era of dominance over for good:

"Their era is not over, they know how to win but for the Ravens, to beat theNew England Patriotsset a precedent. We'll always remember this win. One thing we said as an offense is we want to start games fast. I wanted to be the guy today to start fast, whether it was a 5-yard run or an 83-yard run. I wanted to be the guy to say this will be a fast-tempo game. We want the other team to play catch-up to us."

Baltimore certainly did that, forcing New England to play catch up from their first possession. From the beginning, things didn't go well as Tom Brady fumbled on the Patriots' first possession setting up another easy Ravens' TD. By the end of the first quarter, Brady and his teammates were hearing boos from the Gillette Stadium fans. For his part, Brady didn't blame them for their displeasure:

"I'd have been booing us, too, the way we played. Playing the way we played today, we weren't going to beat anybody."

New England is done for the year, while Baltimore will head to Indianapolis to take on Peyton Manning and the Colts on Saturday night. Indy has won and covered three straight against the Ravens, though Baltimore gave them a tough fight at home this season before losing 17-15 as a +1 home underdog. The NFL pointspread for this game has the Colts installed as -6' point home favorites with the total set at 45.

SEO And Internet Marketing Unplugged

SEO And Internet Marketing Unplugged

by Adriana Noton

There's a little bit of confusion as to whether SEO and internet marketing is an art or a science. It is actually more science than art, because there is a systematic way to go about acquiring traffic and generating buzz for a website and product. Only thing required is that a person understands the basics and knows what tools to use.

SEO Basics: First thing to know is that search engine optimization is essentially about offering visitors a better experience and bringing in more visitors. So it's better to be an expert on the subject matter than to be a so-called SEO wizard. As for the technicalities, just use the right software (blog platform like Wordpress, CMS like joomla, etc.) and follow the basic SEO guidelines provided by Google in their webmaster section.

Keyword Tools: SEO begins with keywords, so before doing anything else, compile a list of keywords relevant to the website. All future activities, including those outlined below, depend in one way or other on this list. It is therefore imperative to get hold of a nice bunch of keywords with high query volumes that are actively being sought after by competitors.

An expert in SEO will be able to come up with a nice list of keywords without any help. But it works better, and is more scientific, to use a keyword tool. The most popular one is from Google, which generates keyword suggestions for Adwords users. There are many more, though, that work just as well, including Wordstream and SpyFu.

Onsite Optimization: The onsite optimization process essentially involves focusing the content on each page to match a specific keyword. Keywords in page titles and URLs matter a whole lot. Within the page content, the presence of keywords has to look natural and should not break the flow of the narrative. New landing pages can be created to target each keyword.

Using the right CMS and/or blog platform helps for including the keywords in all the right places, not to mention the ease of creating an internal linking structure with a good hierarchy, which is a good strategy for all Internet marketing practices. Design modification to enlarge fonts and optimize graphics can help the user experience and page loading speed. So does tweaking back-end scripts and shifting to a more powerful web server.

Link Building: Incoming links are pretty important, as far as search algorithms are concerned. What a link building campaign does is work with the keywords and content creators to acquire targeted links for each page, based on the keyword. The essence of it is to reach out to and establish relationships with like-minded and important website owners. The actual transaction needs a certain amount of experience, so unless the webmaster is aware of terms like three way link deals or sitewide links, it is better to get a professional to do this.

Analytics: After a certain level, poring through raw server logs and the web host's site stats tool is no longer enough. A growing website needs strong analytics scripts that can pinpoint everything from keywords to referrals, landing page information and visitor demographics, not to mention the all important ad clickthru's and conversion data. All this provides direction by spotlighting areas with potential and others that need improvement.

To summarize, there is no deep, dark secret behind SEO and internet marketing. Yes, there are tools and software that make life easier, and some tricks of the trade that can help the site grow faster. But the core of it is to have a good product/service to offer visitors, and lots of talent and hard work.

Atlanta Moves To 2-0 On Season With Win Over Carolina

Atlanta Moves To 2-0 On Season With Win Over Carolina

by Ross Everett

The Atlanta Falcons are off to a fast start this season, and on Sunday used a potent offensive attack to top the Carolina Panthers 28-20 at the Georgia Dome. QB Matt Ryan threw a career high three touchdown passes, including one to his new favorite receiver Tony Gonzalez. Beleaguered Carolina QB Jake Delhomme threw another interception for ten in his previous three games (including last years playoff loss to Arizona) but was otherwise much more effective passing for 308 yards and a touchdown.

NFL football betting devotees who invested in the Falcons as -6 home favorites were rewarded with the pointspread cover. The Falcons have won and covered both games this season for a 2-0 record both straight up and against the spread. The Panthers, meanwhile, have dropped both of their 2009 contests straight up and to the number. The 48 combined points scored went OVER the posted total of 42. Carolina has now gone OVER in both of their 2009 NFL games, while Atlanta evened their O/U record at 1-1.

In his first two games in a Falcons uniform the future Hall of Famer tight end Gonzalez has 12 catches for 144 yards and two touchdowns. Gonzalez wanted out of Kansas City to play for a contender, and hes found himself on a talented young Falcons team with a QB that already appears destined for superstardom.

Afterwards, Gonzalez admitted that he was happy with how things have transpired thus far:

"Not a bad start at all. It's just great to be part of a team like this."

Gonzalezs biggest fan may be the guy charged with getting him the ball on Sundays. Quarterback Matt Ryan was full of compliments for his tight end in his postgame comments:

"He's one of the greatest tight ends of all time. That was a huge pickup for us. He makes big plays for us in different situations when we need him. I've enjoyed playing with him thus far."

Despite the loss, Carolinas Jake Delhomme was relieved to put the horrible performance of the opening week behind him. Delhomme threw four interceptions and lost a fumble in the Panthers loss to Philadelphia, but this week only gave up one interception during a late game rally attempt:

"It couldn't be any worse than last week. I felt good out there today. Last week, I put too much pressure on myself. This week, I got back to being just plain Jake."

The Panthers will head to Dallas for a game against the Cowboys next Monday night. Theyll enjoy a bye week before returning to action at home against the Washington Redskins on October 11th. Atlanta has a pair of tough road games on the docket, beginning this weekend against the New England Patriots at Foxboro, Massachusetts. Theyll have a week off before a game that doesnt look quite so easy any more, heading cross country to play the resurgent San Francisco 49ers on October 11th.

Gamecocks Stun Ole Miss In SEC Opener

Gamecocks Stun Ole Miss In SEC Opener

by Ross Everett

The South Carolina Gamecocks used a nasty defensive effort, combined with an efficient and mistake free performance from quarterback Steven Garcia to upset #4 Mississippi 16-10 at Williams-Brice Stadium in Columbia, SC. The Gamecocks ended a 22 game losing streak against top 5 ranked teams, while Ole Miss saw their eight game winning streak come to an end.

College football betting enthusiasts who took the Gamecocks as +4 home underdogs were financially rewarded with South Carolina's outright victory. After falling behind 3-0 after the first quarter, South Carolina led 6-3 at halftime and never trailed again.

The last time South Carolina had defeated a top five opponent was back in 1981, when they upended North Carolina. After the game, Gamecocks QB Garcia said that while it may not have been a game full of highlight reel plays, the victory was the important thing:

"It was a pretty ugly win, but a win and we'll take it every time."

South Carolina coach Steve Spurrier agreed:

"It was good to get a win when everybody watches. It was good for all Gamecocks. We thought we could beat them. Thought it was a toss-up game. But the way it turned out, the way our defense played, 16 points was enough."

In particular, the defense completely shut down highly touted Ole Miss QB Jevan Snead. Snead finished with a mere 107 yards, though he did manage a late game touchdown pass. He made no excuses after the game:

"We really hurt ourselves and we continued to do it all throughout the game, into the last series. It's tough.

Ole Miss entered the game with their highest national ranking since 1970, when Archie Manning prowled the Rebel backfield. Despite that, head coach Houston Nutt didnt sense any undue pressure on his team before the game:

"I never did sense that we were feeling a lot of pressure. Now it is what it is. You've lost your first conference game. You've got to work hard and win the next conference game."

Rebel offensive lineman Bradley Sowell, meanwhile, contradicted his coachs observation by expressing his relief:

"I'm glad it's over with so everyone can just stop talking about it.

The Gamecocks improved their 2009 college football record to 3-1 (1-0 SEC). Theyll host FCS opponent South Carolina State in Columbia next weekend before resuming their SEC schedule the following week against the University of Kentucky. Ole Miss is right back into SEC play next week, facing Vanderbilt on the road in Nashville, Tennessee. Theyll then return home for their next two games beginning with Alabama on October 10th. Theyll play the University of Alabama-Birmingham the following weekend.

What Steps Are Involved In Web Hosting

What Steps Are Involved In Web Hosting

by Thomas Reyes

One of the most important aspects of creating a site is doing a good job selecting a web host and this will be no different when you build a site with AdSense.

It is true that the service that your web host offers will likely influence how steep your learning curve is; this is the reason that picking the best web host for AdSense is so essential. A bad webhost can make the whole web building process section of an AdSense project extremely frustrating.

You want the one you choose to provide a wide range of services. You want a service that guarantees that you always have a seamless interface with your server. Such that it is constantly available to help you around any technical problems, good customer service needs to be a hallmark of the firm.

Picking out the proper web host for AdSense means selecting the one which offers the most effective hosting package for your particular requirements. Each web hosting company will offer an array of package options, which will all have different hosting alternatives. In order to choose the right provider, you need to know the type of AdSense site you are building. You need to ask a number of essential questions to have an understanding of your webhosting needs for instance:

- What is the anticipated size of your website? Will you develop a great quantity of sub domains? Your answers can help you figure out the amount of space you'll need to host your website.

If you want any sort of tip, take heed to investigate all of your options before making a final decision. Check out whatever alternatives you have. When you have such an enormous number of choices, it's too easy to just make a quick choice to get it all over with. This kind of decision making is risky, and you can potentially miss out on finding a good price, and getting good service. Make comparisons, review the web host's site, and scan reviews in order to compare and contrast to make certain that you receive the most effective web hosting for your particular AdSense website.

Free Agent Quarterback Garcia Takes Oakland Raiders To Task

Free Agent Quarterback Garcia Takes Oakland Raiders To Task

by Ross Everett

Veteran quarterback Jeff Garcia was released earlier this week by the Philadelphia Eagles, a victim of too many quarterbacks on the roster. Now that hes no longer under contract to a NFL team, hes letting his feelings be known about another one of his recent employers--the Oakland Raiders. In an interview with Fox Sports Radio in which he slammed the teams management and suggested that current quarterback Jamarcus Russell was in over his head.

Garcia started his comments with an observation that the team is putting too much pressure on their young quarterback. He suggested that the team is putting their hopes on Russell's shoulders, and that hes simply not ready for that pressure mentally or emotionally:

"I have no problem going into a situation and helping a young guy out and really trying to help the team out overall more so than anything. I just feel like it's an unfortunate situation when the entire work ethic and the entire goal of the team is really put upon one guy's shoulder."

Garcia continued to stress that Russell's talent wasn't the issue:

"When you put him on the field in a one-on-one workout session he'll make every throw for you. But when it comes down to making things happen in the heat of the battle and rallying the troops around you and making a case for the team, that's where maybe things aren't where they need to be."

Garcia went on to assert that the Raiders problems go much deeper than the inexperience of their quarterback:

"It was to a point where I felt like guys who walked through those doors that just were there to collect a check and not really interested in putting everything that they had within themselves on to the football field. And that was the frustrating thing for me to see.

"There were a lot of good young guys in that locker room who really want to do whatever it takes to win, but unfortunately it's not everybody. In order to compete at this level in this game, everybody needs to be on board."

"Maybe it's because how things have been for a number of years now out there and they just don't see the hope"

After his release from the Raiders, coach Tom Cable insinuated that Garcia had an issue with playing backup to Russell:

"There was some talk about how he would fit but the best way for me to approach it is the other two played so well and we are committed to JaMarcus as our starter. Whether or not Garcia was comfortable in a role as a backup, it is what it is."

Ultimately, Garcia suggested that despite his best effort to change the culture of the Raiders it got to the point where he simply wanted out:

"To see the reality of the situation and realize what I may be up against staying here for the entire year, it hurt me, it broke my heart to do that to step up. But I just felt like it was something I really didn't want to put myself through anymore."

The 39 year old Garcia has started 110 games in the NFL in ten seasons after a standout career in the Canadian Football League. There's a good chance you'll see him back in action before the end of the year--though the Raiders are clearly not a team that he'd be interested in.

NFL Flashback: Colts Top Jets In AFC Championship Game

NFL Flashback: Colts Top Jets In AFC Championship Game

by Ross Everett

Peyton Manning threw three touchdown passes as the Indianapolis Colts rallied from an eleven point first half deficit to beat the New York Jets and advance to the Superbowl for the second time in four years. New York held their own in the early going but had no answer for Manning and company in the second half as the Colts scored 17 unanswered points to take the 30-17 victory. Indy will now take on the New Orleans Saints in Superbowl 44 in Miami. It's the fourth trip to the big game in franchise history and, ironically, all four previous appearances have also been in Miami.

The Colts also rewarded NFL football betting enthusiasts who had laid the -7' points with the pointspread victory. Including the playoffs, Indianapolis has covered 12 of their 18 games this season. The Jets finished their campaign with an 11-8 record against the NFL pointspread. The 47 combined points scored went OVER the posted total of 40. The Colts have now gone OVER in five of their last six contests.

Manning and the Colts didn't have much to say in the week prior to their confrontation with the Jets, which the four time NFL MVP insisted was by design:

"I thought we just kept our mouths shut and went to work this week. We talked about being patient against these guys. We knew it would be a four-quarter game."

Linebacker Gary Brackett added these thoughts:

"We've been here before, we had seven comeback wins this year. I think the guys were a little rattled at first, I think we took their best shot, but we came back. I think we did a great job of being the hunters and imposing our will today."

Indy head coach Jim Caldwell was pleased with his team's resolve despite their slow start:

"The guys have always been a very confident bunch and they do a great job of hanging in there. Peyton had just an outstanding game. He's one of those guys that can adjust to different situations. ... A real champion."

Jets' coach Rex Ryan sounded a philosophical note in defeat:

"Today wasn't our day. There's no question. You have to give credit to the Colts. Obviously they're the cream of the crop right now.

The Basics Of Horse Race Handicapping

The Basics Of Horse Race Handicapping

by Ross Everett

Sports gambling is a popular pursuit because everyone understands the basics of how teams win and lose and why. Horses, meanwhile, are an entirely different animal"no pun intended. It is a complex discipline unto itself, and a sound background in handicapping sports doesn't insure success, or even mediocrity in handicapping the ponies. In fact, the history of sports betting is replete with successful gamblers that had a weakness for horse betting, with an emphasis on the word weakness. Most notable, perhaps, is the former resident handicapper at CBS, Jimmy The Greek Snyder. The story goes that The Greek was a first rate sports handicapper, but he couldn't pick the winner of a one horse race when playing the ponies. The bad news for The Greek is that he enjoyed playing the ponies nonetheless, and often frittered away the money he won at the other end of the sportsbook.

The information below is the bare bones basics of what you need to know to enjoy a day at the horse track. If you're interested in becoming a serious horse handicapper, you're best advice to start with one of the countless books or DVDs that deal specifically with the discipline.

Arm yourself with information: The first step for any horse handicapper is to pick up a copy of the Daily Racing Form (DRF) and the track program. The publications give the names of the horses, jockeys and trainers, the morning line odds, and the types of bets available for each race. You'll also have past performance charts, which are crucial for serious horse handicappers. These charts reveal a lot about a horse and what they've done on the racetrack, including its record, where it ran, the quality of competition it ran against, and what position the horse was in at various points in the race.

The House Doesn't Care Who Wins: One thing that is important for the sports bettor to remember when playing the horses is that its a parimutuel situation. In other words, you're not playing against the house, you're playing against the other bettors. The track just facilitates the betting and acts as a middleman, handling the money for a fee (15 to 25 percent of the parimutuel pool). Another difference is that the track odds are determined by how much money is bet on each horse. If everyone bets on one horse"whether it is the best horse, or just has the catchiest name"it will go off as the favorite. Long odds on a horse doesn't necessarily indicate a bad horse, but just one that the wagering public isn't investing in. Sometimes this can be one and the same, but not always.

So where do odds in the newspaper or program originate? These are known as the 'morning odds' or 'morning line' and is basically an educated guess as to where the betting will go. They can be helpful as a handicapping tool, but may or may not reflect what will happen in the actual betting.

Horse handicapping basics: This is where horse racing gets complex--there are countless theories about how to handicap a horse race. Some handicappers consider the breeding lineage of the horse, while others are more concerned with past performance. Still others put more weight on the training a horse has received, or its workout performance.

Once a bettor reaches a conclusion about what he thinks will happen in a given race, it is still subject to the odds that are available when betting. This is similar to sports gambling, where an underdog may be more attractive due to an excessively high payback potential than he would ordinary, or, conversely, a clear favorite becomes an unattractive wagering proposition due to a prohibitively high price. Its all a matter of the math--if I could speak to the teenagers of America, I'd try to impress upon them the importance of doing well in math for no other reason than its importance in all forms of gambling.

Trainers and breeding: Some handicappers prioritize a horse's breeding background--considering his bloodlines and the competitive quality of his parents and grandparents. Then training must be considered--a good trainer can often get a horse to 'over perform' much in the same way a good coach can get the most out of his team in sports.

Jockeys: Jockeys are independent agents, and thus to make the most money they need to win the most races. The more a jockey wins, the better 'rides' he gets and the more money he makes. Surprisingly, many serious horse players put minimal importance on the jockey. It's essentially a case where even the best jockey can't win with a bad horse. In other words, if a jockey is seen as 'competent' there are many other more significant factors for the handicapper to consider.

Find your own style, and maintain discipline: Basically, there's not a 'right' or 'wrong' way to handicap a horse race. Figure out what works for you, and develop and refine your own methodology. As in any form of gambling, don't bet more than you can afford to lose and in particular when you're starting out there's no reason to be making big wagers. If you want to learn more, there's a number of good internet resources including the Daily Racing Form website.
