The Two Types Of Car Wash Methods

The Two Types Of Car Wash Methods

by Michal Mercer

Why should you keep your car's exterior tidy? Well, for the apparent notion that it is one of the leading methods of keeping your car in mint condition for a longer period of time. But apart from keeping your car's exterior in good condition, there are other reasons why you need to maintain a regular schedule for car wash. Mud, grit, dust, and salt can accumulate on your car and cause rust on the finish, which will slowly but steadily degrade the polish of your vehicle. These can cause scratches to form on the surface of your vehicle, and this can cause your vehicle to be in easier danger for corrosion and rust.

You have a couple of options, then, of car wash methods. You can either wash off the dirt and grime by yourself or you can send your car to a car grooming center and let the experts handle the matter of cleaning your car.

The two choices both have their own advantages. If done as a family activity, DIY car washing can help encourage closeness between members of the family. Afternoons and weekends are great times for cleaning the car, and family members can also use the time for catching up and bonding.

However, car owners have to keep in mind to utilize products that are specifically designed to protect their vehicles. Cleaning their cars is not a great time for experimenting with dishwashing soaps and other household cleaners to check if these will work at keeping their cars shiny. Car owners would be risking damage to their car polish if they experiment with various cleaning materials in washing their vehicles. It is highly recommended that automobile owners should only use cleaning materials specially created for cleaning cars.

Meantime, pro car wash centers provide the benefit of using cleaning materials entirely and specifically created for cleaning the exterior of cars. Therefore, the risk of stripping off the automobile's polish is completely eradicated. As an extra reward, many car grooming centers these days utilize cleaning products that are completely friendly and safe for the environment. Another advantage of having your car serviced in a professional grooming center is that, with the technology available in places like this, the time it takes for car detailers to clean your vehicle would just be a wee bit of what you will spend if you do it by yourself.

After the car owner has made the decision as to the certain type of car wash method to use for his or her vehicle, it would then be just a matter of adhering to a set schedule. Keeping a regular washing schedule can ensure the retention of the automobile's sparkle and shine.

Chiefs Beat Struggling Redskins

Chiefs Beat Struggling Redskins

by Ross Everett

The offensively struggling Kansas City Chiefs have finally found a way to win-play a team with a more stagnant offense than their own. The Chiefs gave Todd Haley his first win as a NFL head coach on Sunday with a---6 win over the Washington Redskins. Kansas City won despite not scoring a touchdown, compiling their-- points via 4 Ryan Succop field goals and a game ending safety. Kansas City is now 1-5 on the NFL season, while the Redskins slumped to 2-4.

To successfully bet on NFL football you occasionally have to put aside W/L records and look at the underlying statistics. Those who did that found reason to take Kansas City as +6' road underdogs and were rewarded with the outright victory. Kansas City is now 2-4 against the NFL pointspread and has covered two straight while Washington is a dismal 1-5 versus the money. The 20 combined points went well UNDER the posted total of 36'. The Redskins have gone UNDER in five of their six games this season, while Kansas City has curiously posted a NFL totals mark of 3-2-1 to the OVER despite not scoring more than 24 points in a game all season.

After the contest, Haley sounded more relieved than excited about finally putting a "W" on the board:

"We made it pretty difficult, right down to the end. We've pushed through a very difficult period. We needed to get some positive reinforcement with a win."

Kansas City QB Matt Cassel also won for the first time since coming over from New England in the off season. His postgame comments were more upbeat:

"There's been a lot of change, but this has definitely been special. We rose to the occasion. We made some big plays. We put ourselves in a position to score points."

Embattled Redskins' coach Jim Zorn was stripped of his offensive play calling duties by team management after the contest. In one of his last decisions in that role, he pulled starter Jason Campbell at halftime and went with Todd Collins. He explained his move as follows:

"I felt the need to create a spark on our football team offensively and went with Todd. I think the guys responded well. We kept our spark, at times, and then we refizzled."

The Redskins have managed to win only two of their first six games despite being the only team in NFL history to play their first six games of the season against winless opponents. They'll get another chance to silence their doubters next Monday night as they host the Philadelphia Eagles. They'll have a bye the next week and return to action on November 8th against the Atlanta Falcons at the Georgia Dome. Kansas City will try to string together back to back wins as they host the San Diego Chargers on Sunday.

Saints Use Backup Bell To Blitz Texans In NFL Preseason Game

Saints Use Backup Bell To Blitz Texans In NFL Preseason Game

by Ross Everett

Backup Mike Bell made the most of his opportunity, starting in place of Reggie Bush and helping the New Orleans Saints romp to a 38-14 road victory over the Houston Texans. New Orleans improved to 2-0 on the NFL preseason, while Houston evened their record at 1-1.

Bell is a former Denver Broncos starter who has produced only 45 yards rushing in the past two seasons. He doubled that performance, and has the inside track to lock up the third running back roster spot. After the game, he talked about his big afternoon:

"I just wanted to show the team that I could come here and be a consistent running back. This kind of game was great because it reminds me that I can still play running back. Just to get the carries, and to make the most of this opportunity, that was a real confidence builder."

Saints coach John Payton commended the effort, but said that it wasn't a surprise:

"He really has done a really good job. I was encouraged again to see him playing so well."

Texans starting QB Matt Schaub moved the ball fairly well in limited playing time, but couldnt put points on the board. Houston head coach Gary Kubiak put the loss into perspective:

"It's a humbling game. You can walk out of the stadium one week and feel good about yourself, and then walk out the next week and wonder what the heck is going on. We got pushed around. We have to play better than that up front in order to be successful."

Linebacker DeMeco Ryan agreed:

"We take too much pride in what we do to go out and perform the way we did today. That's not who we are."

For the Saints, Drew Brees split time at QB with Mark Brunell.. Brees was 9 of 14 for 87 yards and a touchdown, while Brunell was 5 of 6 for 96 yards. Brees had missed three days of practice last week to attend his mother's funeral. P.J. Hill also got some reps at running back for the Saints, carrying the ball 8 times for 26 yards. Clearly the Saints have a deep and versatile offense, but need to execute more soundly than they did last year. Talent isn't the problem for the Saints; mistakes, however, are.

New Orleans will continue their NFL preseason run next Saturday against the Raiders at Oakland. Houston will host the Minnesota Vikings next Monday night. The Saints will get the NFL regular season underway on Sunday, September 13th as they host the Detroit Lions. Houston will start their schedule at home on the same day, hosting the New York Jets.

Organize Your Life With Shelves

Organize Your Life With Shelves

by Dennis Atkins

Shelves have been around for many years. However, they never go out of style. There are a great number of reasons to consider shelving in your home. Here are just a few to consider.

Do you have enough space in your home? If so, you are very lucky. Most people enjoy the extra space that shelving affords. Perhaps your garage seems disorganized and cluttered. Simple shelving may help out. Look around the garage. You may find the material, lying around. If not, go to your local lumberyard and purchase some inexpensive wood and brackets. Maybe you do not feel like making your own. You may still have shelving.

Stand alone shelving units are an inexpensive way to add space to your home. It is not difficult to remove them from the box and install them. This may help to clean up that messy garage.

Is it time to organize things in your garage? The right shelving units will make your organizing easy. You can put up simple shelving in several layers. Some can be very high. Use them for seasonal items and ones seldom used.

Is your bedroom crowded and unorganized? Shelving can make a big difference. For bedrooms, use a nice grade of wood. In garages, plain wood is fine. In your bedroom, use wood that you can stain and finish. Pick wood with nice grain patterns. You can use dark or light wood.

Wood works very well for bedroom shelving. You can find the right wood to match almost anything. You can use pine in many applications. It can be stained to match many color schemes. Do you like richer colors? Consider something like walnut. Make sure you shelving is not in the way. You may have to place it higher than most shelving. You might be able to go around most of the room, with it.

Shelving has its place in living rooms, also. Do you have very little space? You can make built in shelving. It involves a little work, but it can save a lot of space. This will work best for interior walls. Exterior walls may not have much available space.

Are you considering built in shelving. Check your walls. Some walls may have a lot space between them. It depends on the house. Be very careful with support studs. You can make wide shelving by hiding the studs. Place paneling or other wood around them. Of course, it will be much easier to install stand alone shelving units.

Your built in shelving project can be complicated. You might need to tear some walls. Learn as much as you can about the subject. Explore online resources. Check with your local library. You might call a professional for an estimate. This will give you a good idea of what to do.

Final thoughts

People have been making shelves for many years. They are still as popular and functional as ever. They will work well in any room of the house. You can build your own or buy stand alone kits. If you have limited space, consider built in shelving. However, this project takes a certain degree of skill and experience. It may be best to have it professionally done.

The Strange Saga Of Satoshi Ishii And Dana White

The Strange Saga Of Satoshi Ishii And Dana White

by Ross Everett

It may be a bit of a stretch to call Satoshi Ishii the Michael Phelps of Japan, but not by much. His victory in the heavyweight judo competition at the 2008 Olympics in Beijing was easily the defining moment of the games for his countrymen and was considered by most media outlets the #1 highlight of the year in all of sports. Though Japan does well at the Olympics for a country of its size and has won gold medals in a number of sports, its important to keep in mind that until the late'70s judo was the country's most popular sport.

Ishii himself is also a marketing dream. Hes especially big by Japanese standards with 240 pounds packed on his bulky 511 frame. Not surprisingly, hes tough as nails and a terror on the mat but away from the gym he comes off like an awkwardly cheerful overgrown boy. He definitely seems younger than his 22 years, but gives off the vibe of a nice neighbor boy who youd gladly pay to mow your lawn. Unlike his telegenic American gold medalist counterpart Phelps, who acts as if he spent as much time working on media relations as his backstroke heading up to the Olympic games, Ishii's demeanor is of an athlete who literally spent the bulk of his life in a gym only to emerge and find himself a national hero.

With the ability to offer him the most money and exposure, it seemed almost a fait accompli that Ishii would sign with DREAM and K-1 parent group FEG. Obviously its a good idea to keep your options open in negotiations, so he also reportedly talked to Sengoku parent World Victory Road and Antonio Inokis Inoki Genome Federation pro wrestling group. As expected, however, FEG reportedly presented Ishii with the most lucrative offer: 500 million yen (roughly $5.5 million US) to fight on DREAM and K-1 cards, with incentive bonuses based on his drawing power and performance. He would very likely become the highest paid mixed martial artist in the world before hed even stepped into the ring for the first time.

Ishii then shocked the Japanese fight sport world by categorically rejecting FEGs offer, saying that it was his lifelong dream to fight in the UFC. While this rationale might sound plausible to a US based fan, its akin to a top college baseball player from a SEC school turning down a big offer from the Atlanta Braves saying that its his lifelong dream to play for the Yomiuri Giants in Japan Central League. It frequently comes a shock to US MMA fans just how low the UFC ranks in the Japan's fight sport pantheon. In MMA, their profile is lower than DREAM and Sengoku, but even smaller groups like Shooto and DEEP.

Ishii then travelled to Las Vegas for UFC 92, with the Japanese media in tow covering his every move. There were countless photo opportunities with Dana White, who spoke of Ishii in glowing terms, along with top UFC stars. Upon his return to Japan, he was repeatedly photographed wearing UFC t-shirts while speaking enthusiastically about Dana White, Lorenzo Fertitta and everyone else involved with the promotion. He appeared at the Sengoku card in January addressing the audience from the ring and wearing his ubiquitous UFC shirt; his message was that he was going to fight in America for awhile but would eventually return to Japan.

At age 22, Ishiis got plenty of time to develop as a fighter. His biggest downside risk from signing with Zuffa is financial since hed be lucky to get a fraction of what FEG is willing to pay him. The competitive logic of learning his craft slowly notwithstanding, theres a huge risk in automatically assuming that he can fight for the UFC for a few years and then cash a big check when he returns to Japan as the potential of injury and changing market conditions could seriously impact his market value. On the other hand, it could be a risk hes willing to take given that hes got his celebrity both with the mainstream public and in the judo community to fall back on.

Theres another very realistic scenario that it was all a negotiating ploy by Ishii. The UFC was likely willing to play along, figuring that their investment of a few plane tickets and hotel suites would be worth the resulting PR surge in Japan. Ishii and the UFC develop a cordial relationship which could be to the benefit of both parties down the road and both sides realized that a long term commitment wasn't the right move at this point.

With the recent revelation that Ishii has broken off UFC negotiations to entertain offers from other parties thats starting to look like the plausible explanation for the once hot and heavy courtship between Ishii and Zuffa.

As a postscript to the Ishiis relationship with the UFC, it apparently opened the doors for his move to the US where hell be training with the American Top Team in Florida. That alone is a positive for his future development as a fighter, as hell be training with a whos who of professional fighting.

Lesnar Becomes UFC Champion With Win Over Mir

Lesnar Becomes UFC Champion With Win Over Mir

by Ross Everett

UFC 100 was a historic night for the sport of mixed martial arts, and Brock Lesnar used the occasion to avenge his previous loss to Frank Mir with a lopsided TKO victory. With the victory, Lesnar unified the promotion's heavyweight championship. The Mir/Lesnar tilt was the main event on an epic card which culminated an insane week in Las Vegas.

UFC 100 drew unprecedented attention from not only the MMA media but the mainstream sports media as well. While outlets like ESPN have long treated MMA with disdain they were forced by the interest surrounding the event to give it prime coverage.

While the big metric of the events success will be its PPV buy rate"which will almost certainly shatter existing UFC records"the attendance numbers and other tangible measures that are already known underscore the significance of the event. Fridays weigh in was a standing room only affair with over 2,000 fans turned away. A Fan Expo held in conjunction with UFC 100 counted over 30,000 visitors on Friday and an equal or greater number on Saturday. Even veteran fight media experienced in covering big boxing and MMA events worldwide have reported that the energy and general vibe around this event is like nothing theyve seen.

And the main event of the week was Saturdays UFC 100 fight card where Lesnar established not only his dominance of the promotions heavyweight division but his status as the biggest heel in MMA. To his credit, he had a perfect gameplan for Mir that allowed him to use his strength and power to maul his opponent on the ground while minimizing his exposure to submissions.

Mir, on the other hand, made a tactical mistake by letting Lesnar put him on his back and pound away. He clearly underestimated Lesnar's ability to defend his submissions and by the end of the first round had already suffered a nasty beating.

Lesnar diminished his dominating performance with his postfight antics"he taunted Mir after the stoppage, prompting the crowd to boo him mercilessly. He responded to this with a double handed middle finger salute before a short and arrogant postfight interview that would have been much more at home in the WWE than in this setting. Mir was the consummate professional in defeat, giving credit to his opponent and generally displaying all of the class that Lesnar lacked.

Browns Top Bills In Bumbling Offensive Display

Browns Top Bills In Bumbling Offensive Display

by Ross Everett

In a matchup between two of the worst offenses in the NFL, someone had to win. Despite producing only 9 first downs and'3 yards of total offense, the Cleveland Browns got a late game field goal from Billy Cundiff to defeat the Buffalo Bills 6-3 and win their first game of the season. The Bills had the more productive afternoon statistically, with- first downs and 288 yards of offense but were undone by three costly turnovers. Both teams are now 1-4 on the 2009 NFL season.

To successfully bet on the NFL, one needs to find opportunities to play underdogs"this is particularly true in games where neither team is expected to put many points on the board. Such was the case here, as Cleveland easily covered the pointspread as +6 road underdogs. Both teams are now 2-3 against the number on the season. The Browns have now won and covered the last three head to head matchups between the teams.

It was a game without many highlights. The Browns got on the board first with a 24 yard Cundiff field goal in the second quarter, and took that 3-0 lead into the locker room at halftime. Buffalo would tie the score in third on a Rian Lindell 36 yard field goal. That would set the stage for Cundiff to nail the game winner from' yards out with: 23 left to play. Despite todays victory, Cleveland is averaging a woeful 11 points per game this season. Buffalo's PPG numbers are slightly better thanks to decent scoring output in their first two games of the season--theyre averaging just over 15 points per contest. In the Bills last three games, however, theyre averaging a meager 6.6 points per game.

The real loser in Sundays contest may have been Buffalo head coach Dick Jauron. Many were surprised that he was retained after the Bills third straight 7-9 season last year and things have gone from bad to worse so far in the 2009 NFL season. Buffalo has lost to winless teams in back to back weeks, part of a three game losing streak. Overall, the Bills have wound up losers in 12 of their last 15 games. Not that Cleveland has done much better--the win today ended a 10 game losing streak, one short of the all time franchise record.

Cleveland will have a tough road assignment next Sunday, heading to Pittsburgh to face the World Champion Steelers. Theyll return home for a game against the Green Bay Packers on October 25th before playing the Chicago Bears in The Windy City the following week. Buffalo will play the next two on the road, heading to the Meadowlands next Sunday for a game against the New York Jets followed by a trip to Charlotte, NC to take on the Carolina Panthers. Theyll return home on November 1st to face the Houston Texans.
